History of Nightlife in Seattle

After Prohibition, bars sprouted like mushrooms across Seattle. The Cabin, Hilltop Ale House, Blue Moon Tavern, all opened around this time. Aside from their evocative names, these places are actually still up and running! The oldest gay bar in town is arguably The Double Header, although this site has now closed down. Check out the list below to see how Seattle has blossomed into a hookup paradise.

Foundation Nightclub

College and young middle aged
Website :
foundation-nightclub.com
Address :
2218 Western Ave, Ste 100, Seattle, WA 98121

Valet parking
Brief Description :
First off the bat, if you are driving, and let's face it, most people in Seattle are driving, you will find that this place has a full valet service, which is great for anyone who wants to be able to find their car in the early hours of the morning. So that aside let us take a look at the best features of the best night club in Seattle for anyone who loves EDM. Well the first thing is that they pretty much ONLY play EDM and that is no bad thing if all you want to do is dance to some absolutely banging beats - and why else would you want to go out to a night spot like this. The live DJs they have that head line here are among the best in the nation, and there is no reason why this place would attract anything less. The bottom line is that this venue is perfectly built for the types of large crowds that it boasts most nights of the week - speaking of which, this place is banging week-round. There is not a single night when this place is not packed. OK, Mondays may be a little slow, but as Hump Day rolls around, it starts to pick up, and it only gets wilder and wilder as the week progresses. In fact, weekends may be a little too packed for some people, but if you want to be part of a mass of sweating, jumping, swaying young bodies - and who wouldn't? - then by all means come on down.

They do a Tea Dance which is very popular among the LGBT community so come along for that. You are pretty much guaranteed a date if you come here single - though be aware that some nights in can get pretty wild. What to wear? Q Nightclub

Type :
Nightclub

Large dance floor, bar
Crowd :
College and young middle aged
Website :
qnightclub.com
Address :
1426 Broadway, Seattle, WA 98122
Any Notes :
Coat check, parking
Brief Description :
There is ample parking at this hotbed of dancing and drinking which needs to be seen to be believed. Seattle almost doesn't deserve such a great nightclub, and people who have tried other clubs with less success might know what I mean. Q is the HOTTEST club in town bar none, and the reason really is the crowd that it attracts. On the face of it, Q is much like any other club - it charges a cover, it has deals on drinks, it has parking and coat check - all the things you would expect from a nightclub - but it does a couple of things better than anyone else in the city. It has a great dance floor for one - it is almost TOO big - and it also has great staff. Staffing seems to be something that most places don't consider as part of their over all experience - it seems to be enough in some places just to have a guy standing there taking your money - but Q has a staff that really seem to care about your night. Back to the clientele - this crowd is young, but not too young. This is no frat boy club if you are worrying about that. The vibe is mature but not fuddy duddy. You won't find any old fool stuttering around and eyeing up the talent, and you likewise won't find girls holding each other's hair in the washrooms either. The crowd here is fun, friendly, and frisky. You want to hook up tonight? You won't find a better date hookup nightclub in Seattle.

Conor Byrne's Pub

Type :
Irish date hookup bar and eatery

www.conorbyrnepub.com
Address :
5140 Ballard Avenue, NW Ballard, Washington 98107
Any Notes :
Full bar, no dress code
Brief Description :
Happy hour from 4-7 daily, and they open for every Seahawks game. So much great food, it would be hard to know where to start. Burgers, chips, beers, wine - this is a paradise of choice, and served up in a beautiful old building. You are bound to meet someone here, whether you turn up with a reservation or without. Friendly staff and a happy-go-lucky crowd make Conor Byrne's Pub a must-try. We're kicking off our list with the most LGBT friendly bar in town, too. If you are on the gay scene and want a date hookup spot that suits your needs, you can get sweaty with Betty here. It is known as the number one gay date hookup bar in Seattle among patrons who are in the know, and was once the most popular place to come out in according to some commentators on the fledgling Seattle gay scene.

Garage

Type :
Bar, resto, pool hall
Space :
Large, converted garage
Crowd :
College to middle aged
Website :
garagebilliards.com
Address :
1130 Broadway Ave 206-322-2296
Any Notes :
Happy hour 3-7 daily
Brief Description :
Yes, it really used to be a garage. It still is - in spirit at least. It's got a strong emphasis on pool, so if you fancy knocking some balls around tonight, this is the place to let it all hang out. With 18 regulation tables, you are going to get some kind of date hookup action tonight if you head down to Garage. The crowd is pretty placid, but don't try getting into a conversation with someone at a table - try the bar - which, by the way, is comprehensively stocked.

Ballard Station Public House

Type :
Bar with some food
Space :
Large bar area and patio
Crowd :
College to middle aged
Website :
theballardstation.com
Address :
2236 NW Market St, Seattle, WA 98107
Any Notes :
Reservations, no dress code
Brief Description :
Loads of local drinks and a lot of popular dishes, but since there isn't much by way of a menu, (popcorn, cheeseboard, paninis) you are allowed to bring your own grub or order in from nearby eateries. What really draws a crowd in this place though is Tuesday night trivia night, which is so much fun apparently that the bar has a loyal crowd that turns up every week for it. Join in the fun by turning up and getting on a team. You could hook up tonight with a nerd if you're lucky!

Bramling Cross

Type :
Popular restaurant and bar
Space :
Huge seating area and full bar
Crowd :
College to middle aged
Website :
Bramling Cross
Address :
5205 Ballard Ave NW
Any Notes :
Parking is available
Brief Description :
Located in a neighborhood where it seems that every new place is taken over by something else the next week, this ever popular gastropub will keep you going while you look out for your next hookup. This is a great place to either find or date or take a date. With beers ranging from Holy Mountain to Stoup, there is something to meet every taste. It's a great looking place too, with high ceilings and a worn aesthetic that suits the slightly older clientele. This is an all around great date hookup spot to enjoy yourself with drinks and nibbles while doing so.

418 Public House

Type :
Food-oriented bar
Space :
Huge bar and patio
Crowd :
College to young adult and older
Website :
418publichouse.com
Address :
418 NW 65th St.
Any Notes :
Dress code applies at the weekend.
Brief Description :
Welcome to Phinneywood where everything seems cooler than it should, and every other place seems to have its own microbrewery or mini eatery. The 418 is the hottest gastropub in the area, so if you feel like skipping those other places, most of which still smell like fresh paint and sawdust, then feel free. What's so great about this place? Mexican-styled dishes and plenty of meat dishes for the non-veggie crowd are a big pull, and if you're here to hook up - and why wouldn't you be? - there's happy hour from 4-6.30 nightly, so drinks. Throw in live music and shuffleboard - yes SHUFFLEBOARD - and you have quite possibly one of the coolest places anywhere right here for your last-minute dating needs.

Alibi Room

Type :
Dance spot plus bar and restaurant by day
Space :
Large dance floor and full bar
Crowd :
Young to Middle aged adults
Website :
seattlealibi.com
Address :
85 Pike St.
Any Notes :
Coat check and parking.
Brief Description :
Very popular with Seattleites, this place seems to be involved in pretty much everything. It has live DJs on a rotating basis so you can dance to heart's desire, and it has a great menu by day. The bar is fully stocked and well run, so there's no complaints there. The other thing that Alibi does is support the indie film scene - it's owned by filmmakers, so you can understand the bias. The bottom line, though, is that this place is one of the best date hookup clubs around, so if you feel that you are most likely to score while dancing this is the place to go. Come back in the day with your significant other and grab a burger and a script to flick through - yes, really.

Brouwer's Cafe

Type :
Well regarded whiskey bar
Space :
Sundeck, large bar area
Crowd :
College, young adults
Website :
brouwerscafe.com
Address :
400 N 35th St.
Any Notes :
Beer, beer, beer, beer, whiskey, whiskey, beer... Yes, this is a cafe in name only. I mean, you CAN get a coffee there, but... Well, it's known for its 60 different types of whiskey. Yup, 60, with a 6 and a 0. Lamb burger to go? Sure. But why leave? With more seating than you can shake a stick at and a fun-loving crowd you could party with for nights on end, Brouwer's is the fun capital of Seattle. Get your best threads on and head down to Brouwer's Cafe where you are all but guaranteed to hook up tonight with someone who wants to have as good time a you do. Oh, and it's Belgian themed. Which means it has lots of Belgian beer on tap and bottled. It doesn't get any better than this.
